I could use a little help. It seems I’m stumped. It wood be a big help if you’d give me your opinion about our tree. If you saw it, yew’d know what I mean. It seems the recent storms damaged the big elm in the front yard of the Tallula Christian Church. A call to Area Wide Tree and Stump Removal got a very quick response and they did a great clean up as well. Right now we are left with the very large stump, at our request, and have considered what might be done with it. If you were wondering, we considered a chainsaw carving, in place or after removal. We may also simply have it removed. We are still up in the air about it, in any regard we miss the tree but it does open up the view of the church. Watch to see what happens.

We are currently into the second week of Pentecost. This is the name given to the event that has done the most to shape the Christian Church since the first Easter. Pentecost is a celebration of the giving of the Holy Spirit to all people. In the Gospel of John 14:16 Jesus tells us, “If you love me, keep my commands, And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever, the Spirit of Truth.” He also tells us that this Spirit of God will live with us and be in us.

Each Sunday and every time we meet we celebrate and praise God with the Holy Spirit. In John 4, Jesus tells us, “God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. Join us each Sunday at our regular Sunday School time, 9:30 am. Classes are taking a break for the summer but the adults are still meeting for coffee and fellowship. Then stick around for our time of worship together.

All are welcome to attend and you can come as you are. We are a friendly open church that will welcome believers in Christ and those who are seeking to know him or know more about him. We are easy to find just three friendly blocks north of beautiful downtown Tallula at 311 North Yates. Come for a visit and stay to be family. I’m sure you’ll be glad you did or my name isn’t Dave Poeschel, Pastor and as I always say, “Don’t pine over a tree, it’ll be oak kay, and we’ll leaf the light on for you, the light of Christ.”
