Brothers and Sisters in Christ, things are moving along here at the Tallula Christian Church with the help of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Pastoral Search Committee is being supported by prayers from the congregation. The Pastoral Search Committee is grateful for the prayers and support, but patience is what’s happening now.

We have been blessed by some very good visiting pastors that have ministered the word of God. Thank you to Lisa Howard for arr...

It seems we all survived the 2017 eclipse. I talked with some people who thought it was the most terrific thing they had ever witnessed. Some thought it was the turning point in their lives. Other believed it was the convergence of two terrific powers that would change them for the better or possibly for the worse. I believe as the moon orbited Earth, it moved between the sun and Earth. This caused the moon to block the light of the sun from reaching Earth. We call this an eclipse of the sun, or... Read Full Post »

How did you like the State Fair or did you even go? The weather was cooperative, no giant thunderstorms, heatwaves or hurricanes. Well this is Illinois, anything could happen. Our states first fair was held in October of 1853. The first four days it rained and turned the whole affair to a bog of mud. This weather business is not a phenomenon, it???s a tradition. The fair was then held in a number of different cities until 1894 when it adopted Springfield and it???s current and permanent location... Read Full Post »

The way it should be, We keep your promise, The way it should be, Membership has it???s privileges, You???re in good hands and Be all you can be. These are just a few of the slogans I heard or saw today and each one of them tells us how special their product is. Actually, every slogan should bring God to mind, everything should make u... Read Full Post »

I’m hoping you had a good fourth of July. Did you know that many Americans do not know what we celebrate other than fireworks? July four is the day we celebrate our Independence Day of the United States from England. It’s a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 on July 4 by the Continental Congress. This led to the Revolutionary war that secured our freedom. Did you know England has a fourth of July too? It comes right after the thir...

I could use a little help. It seems I’m stumped. It wood be a big help if you’d give me your opinion about our tree. If you saw it, yew’d know what I mean. It seems the recent storms damaged the big elm in the front yard of the Tallula Christian Church. A call to Area Wide Tree and Stump Removal got a very quick response and they did a great clean up as well. Right now we are left with the very large stump, at our request, and have considered what might be done with it. If y...

Hope Father’s Day was good for all you dads. You know, being a father is a very important occupation. The bible says to train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. It’s our God given job, it’s our “Mission from God” to raise our children in the ways of the Lord, make them good people, neighbors and citizens. It wasn’t too long ago an expectant father sat in a waiting room and the doctor told him if it was a boy or...

Sunday is the day. It’s the most holy of days in the world of the Christian. Now, you probably think I’m talking about Easter and I am. Easter Sunday is the traditional day of resurrection celebrated by Christians the world over. It’s a special day for gathering with family and attending services at sunrise and normal hours at your place of worship. But each Sunday is considered to be the Lord’s Day and a day of rest. In the book of Genesis we find that God created the...

We are just about to be through the season of Lent for 2017. The 40 days prior to Easter is referred to as Lent. The origin of the season comes from Latin celebration that actually meant 40 fours. In the early church it referred to the 40 hour fast before the Easter celebration. This was a typical time to baptize and the fast was in preparation. Later on, the period was extended to six days and eventually to include the time period from Ash Wednesday to Easter Eve. The word...
