GOOD NEWS FROM THE TALLULA CHRISTIAN CHURCH 10-7-19

First of all, congratulations to Anne Smith for the well-deserved awards she recently received. Anne has truly been a blessing to the community through her labors!

Our Fall season started a little warmer than usual, but it seems that Fall has finally arrived with the cooler temperatures. Crops are still a little green, but with human patience and wisdom, the harvesting will eventually be in full force. As I write this, I...

Our pastor, Gretchen Barron, was out recently – we welcomed her back this past Sunday! We thank Harold Smith for filling the pulpit during her absence! We have been blessed with excellent preachers and we thank them for their teaching.

Music, loud or soft, makes up a big part of our lives. We are blessed by a very good Music director at the Tallula Christian Church. Paula serves as our Music Director, ...

GOOD NEWS FROM THE TALLULA CHRISTIAN CHURCH 5-28-19

Like a calf with a nice green pasture, who sticks his head through the fence to get at a the same thing that is right under his feet, we as Christians sometimes are always looking too. Here at the Tallula Christian Church we strive for that perfect Christian life, but fall short since we are human. That being said, I think being content with knowing Christ died for our sins and assured us of eter...

GOOD NEWS FROM THE TALLULA CHRISTIAN CHURCH 4-22-19

By the time this is read, Easter services and the Easter Egg Hunts will be over. We sometimes say crucified without thinking what an awful and painful death our Savior suffered. One of the main cogs in the wheel of our faith is that Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father to witness to God about you and me of our time on earth.

What a spiritual and educat...

GOOD NEWS FROM THE TALLULA CHRISTIAN CHURCH 4-16-19

The grass is turning green and the weather is slowly, but surely, warming up. Mushrooms and planting season can’t be far behind. We pray everyone has a safe and profitable planting season.

Meanwhile, here at the Tallula Christian church, Gretchen ministered on being humble and humility. One story, John 13, comes to mind when humility of our Lord is discussed. On Maundy Thursday, Jesus humbled himself to wash the f...

GOOD NEWS FROM THE TALLULA CHRISTIAN CHURCH 4-8-19

As Easter approaches, I will try to stay away from the gospel of the resurrection to not spoil the minister’s Easter message!

I have often been criticized for not studying the Bible. When I read the Bible, it is for relaxation and inspiration. The Bible is always a learning tool and can be read with love or hate in our heart. We prefer that love will always win out over hate, but as long as we are human, one never k...

GOOD NEWS FROM THE TALLULA CHRISTIAN CHURCH 3-25-19

As Easter approaches, which in my opinion is the holiest time of the Christian religion, I find myself taking stock of what is important in my daily Christian life. Do I live as Jesus commanded me to live by loving my neighbor? Or do I find it easier to just nod my head in recognition and move on? John 3:17 is most important when trying to figure out my relationship with God. “For God sent the Son into the world, not to co...

GOOD NEWS FROM THE TALLULA CHRISTIAN CHURCH 2-15-19

Pastor Gretchen Barron continues to be our Guest Speaker during the month of February. Last week, Pastor Gretchen challenged us to go a week and to receive every person we engage with as if it were their last day on Earth. The thought definitely slows you down and embraces your fellow man. Sounds like a good way to live your life. May we strive always to reach His glory, but know that we will always fall short of His glory ...

GOOD NEWS FROM THE TALLULA CHRISTIAN CHURCH 1-14-2019

Here at Tallula Christian Church we celebrated the birth of the Lord Jesus with a Christmas Eve service at 11 pm on Christmas Eve. Gretchen Barron did an outstanding job of delivering the message of our Lord and Savior. During the service we received communion in Remembrance of Jesus Christ. At the end of the service we formed a candlelight circle around the sanctuary and sang “Silent Night” together. As...

GOOD NEWS FROM THE TALLULA CHRISTIAN CHURCH 1-7-2019

We at the Tallula Christian Church extend our heartfelt thanks to all who attended our Christmas Carol Program. We sang Christmas carols and a good time was had by all! When we sang “Up on the Housetop”, I remembered all us kids climbing on Dad’s lap as he sang “Up on the Housetop” to all of us. Oh those sweet memories!

A special thank you to Terry Hughes who was our mis...
