Hope Father’s Day was good for all you dads. You know, being a father is a very important occupation. The bible says to train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. It’s our God given job, it’s our “Mission from God” to raise our children in the ways of the Lord, make them good people, neighbors and citizens. It wasn’t too long ago an expectant father sat in a waiting room and the doctor told him if it was a boy or girl. Now a dad has to learn how to breath, wear scrubs or smock, cut the cord and make sure the video is working. Yep, a dad’s job is tough and knowing the right thing to do is tougher. But there is help in God’s word. It’s full of advice to cover most any situation.
Speaking of kids, school is out and I wonder how long it will be until you hear those famous word, “There’s nothing to do, I’m bored”. They were word we only said once at my house. If I had nothing to do, my parents would find something for me to do. Well at the Tallula Christian Church we can help. It’s a July celebration bigger than the 4th. It’s Vacation Bible School or VBS to those in the know. July 24th to 27 from 6pm to 8pm we will have music, games, crafts, jokes, treats and more fun than a barrel full of grade schoolers. If they aren’t careful they just might learn something too. So save the dates, send the kids.
We have suspended Sunday school for the summer months and will pick it back up in the fall. The adults are continuing to meet for coffee, conversation and breakfast cake or donuts. Feel free to join us each Sunday at 9:30 and stick around for Worship Service at 10:30. Everyone is welcome.
June 28 is an important date. The good people of the Pierre Marquette DAR are hosting a blood drive along with the church and the Central Illinois Community Blood Center. The times are in the evening from 4pm to 7 to accommodate those who cannot give during the day. So stop making excuses and come to give what’s in your heart.
Come worship with us, come for a visit and stay to be family. We are easy to find, just three short block north of beautiful and historic downtown Tallula at 311 North Yates. Come join us, I’m sure you’ll be glad you did or my name isn’t Dave Poeschel, Pastor and as I always say, “We’ll leave the light on for you, the light of Christ.”
